Sometimes I enjoy listening to other peoples conversations, listening to the lives of others, their quarrels, their joys, even listening to their funny moments and laughing along. I don’t do it on purpose, I just tend to be observant towards these sort of things. Perhaps it’s because I feel that my current situation isn’t interesting enough and so my focus turns to my surroundings or someone says something that just piques my attention. There’s nothing wrong with listening in, if they didn’t want you to listen it wouldn’t be said out loud or in public. You can find out so many things: current events, random facts even touching stories. even hearing people talking in another language is a good exercise in learning, such as brushing up on my chinese, picking up or recognizing random phrases of korean or japanese, it’s kind of fun.

But haha! Mike has a blog now!
Teehee your blog’s so pretty!
Okay.. now that the excitement of Mike blogging is gone, (and with PDEng in front of me) I can properly comment now.
The most unusual thing I heard on the subway was about family violent. You really don’t have a choice on a crowded subway train, but to listen. It was two women in their late 30’s, early 40’s. One was being abused by her husband, and the other one was retelling stories of her friend being abused. Cops were involved, not to mention the visible bruises and cuts, and how she ran out of the house bare-foot. It’s chilling. I know family abuse exists, but I don’t know any around me. It was a harsh reminder. As they sat down, I saw them merely as two working women. As they left, my view point of them changed.
I think you mean piques your attention.
It’s interesting to think that everyone you bump into in the street has their story, isn’t it…
but in the end it’s still eavesdropping lol
yes, thanks for the spelling correction.
like Pauline said, you don’t really have a choice but to listen sometimes!
